Mystic Aquarium!
With our upcoming field trip to Mystic Aquarium, I am wondering what exhibits you are looking forward to seeing the most. Answer the following questions in your post:
What exhibit are you really excited to see?
What animals or organisms do you want to find out more about?
Do you think your field guide will help you? How?
How will you set a good example of behavior while you and your classmates tour the aquarium?
Have a GREAT time on this awesome field trip!

Cyber Bullying
What is cyberbullying, exactly?
"Cyberbullying" is when a teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, or embarrassed by another teen using the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, texting or other technologies. Cyberbullying is usually not a one time communication, unless it involves a death threat or a credible threat of serious bodily harm. Teens usually know when they or their friends have been cyberbullied. Children have killed each other and committed suicide after having been involved in a cyberbullying incident.
Cyberbullying is a serious concern to students and parents and teachers. Have you ever seen an example of Cyberbullying? What are some ways that we can stop Cyberbullying?

The Best Soil for Our Garden
As a group, we recently conducted an experiment that investigated the porosity and permeability of different soil samples. Porosity is how much water drains through a soil. Permeability is how fast water drains through a soil.
Which soil sample (sand, topsoil, or schoolyard dirt) would you recommend to Dr. Chambers for our community garden? Why did you choose this type of soil?

Community Gardens
1/20/2012-
In today's world, food and water are becoming more and more expensive because of the increase in population. In order to prevent a fresh food shortage (where there isn't enough food for everyone), community gardens are being established in cities.
Do you think community gardens could be successful here at MELS? Why or why not? What type of plants would you grow if we started a community garden at MELS? Before answering these questions, watch the video by clicking the link below.
